What is Cryotherapy?

Whole body cryotherapy, from greek Kyros-cold is a technique that involves exposure of the body to low temperatures (-110º to 190º) for a period of 1 to 3 minutes on a cryosauna cabin.

Health and beauty

Super-low temperatures are cutting-edge and an efficient way to trigger self-healing mechanisms. Short-time (1 to 3 minutes) cooling of the upper skin layer helps boost metabolic processes, decrease anxiety and fatigue, improve sleep and stimulate immune system.

Cryotherapy involves activation of natural body defenses and that is why it is totally safe. The short-time exposure of the body does not affect the core temperature. It adresses multiple issues at the same time, which means that the body starts healing processes on several levels.

What is it like?

During the session the upper layer of the skin where cold receptors are located is cooled down rapidly. The receptors send a powerful signal to the brain about danger, but due to the slow transmission the brain receives this information after the session is already over, so the body starts scanning all organs and systems searching for the source, thus regulating all vital processes.

Due to exposure to cold the blood vessels are constricted, but after the session they are dilated, thus improving blood circulation and delivery of oxygen and nutrients. In these layers the metabolic processes are sped up, metabolic wastes are better eliminated, which improves different speed conditions and makes the skin look better and more smooth.

Short time exposure to super low temperatures tone and strengthens blood vessels and prevents appearance of vascular spiders, restores metabolism and increases general wellbeing. In beauty therapy cryotherapy is efficient for acne treatment, in anti cellulitis and weight reduction programmes.

Medical application

Cryotherapy is widely used in medicine due to its ability to enhance comprehensive treatment and reduce the amount of medication. In cardiology it is recommended for prevention of cardiovascular diseases and treatment of vegetovascular disorders.

Cryotherapy is also successfully applied to speed-up recovery from grave somatic diseases and surgical operations, in treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome and in immune status correction.

Cryotherapy treatment on a cryosauna cabin is really soon going to be part of Sha Wellness Clinic list of treatments.
