The importance of nutrition in reducing the effects of stress

Stress and anxiety are often the cause of poor health and, as you can imagine, poor nutrition only makes it worse. It is therefore important to care about what you eat and the way you eat, which can have direct consequences on your health.

A good diet can reduce the effects of stress, just as poor or good nutrition directly influences your work performance. For executives with stress and little free time, there are a number of specific dietary guidelines that are ideal for improving well-being and, above all, reducing the negative effects of this 21st century ailment.

Stress: combat its effects with a good diet

The daily work of an executive is characterised by tension, worries and stress. There is no start and finish time, no set hours. No day is the same as another.

In these cases, nutrition for stress and having food for anxiety is essential. Dietary disorders can trigger stress, although in most cases it happens the other way around. In other words, work stress greatly affects eating habits with untimely and inadequate intakes, chronic constipation, loss of appetite or an insatiable appetite.

All the effects of stress on the body’s nutritional needs are unknown. However, it is known that under these circumstances, our metabolism can be under tremendous pressure.

This can have repercussions on the immune system. It can reduce defences and make people much more vulnerable to illness and infection.

How to combat it

To avoid stress due to a poor diet, vitamin C is recommended. It is found in berries, kiwis, oranges, potatoes, peppers and broccoli. This type of vitamin is consumed, above all, for producing adrenaline. Adrenaline is secreted in stressful situations. A lack of it results in reduced macrophage activity, the immune cells. This increases the propensity to have colds and other infections.

Beta-carotenes are also important, which are present in dark green vegetables, carrots and orange and yellow fruits. Beta-carotenes are important in the functioning of the immune system, as is the case with folic acid found in spinach, cereal husks and green leafy vegetables.

In short, nutrition is a very important in taking care of one’s health. It is also important to enjoy leisure time and take advantage of time set aside for natural therapies and to do activities that help you to relax.
