Tekka is a condiment that comes from Japan, a country famous for its healthy food. It is Japanese but its name has a Chinese origin. Indeed, the word comes from 2 Chinese ideograms which mean “metal” and “fire“. That’s why tekka is also known as “iron’s fire”.

A mix of powerful ingredients

Tekka has a dark color, a strong and intense flavor and a above all a concentrated power thanks to its elaboration process. Indeed, tekka is made from other ingredients that are hatcha miso, sesame paste, sesame oil, lotus root, ginger, carrot and bardana, only ingredients with a lot of properties. Moreover, it is cooked in a cast iron pan for 16 hours which gives it a high content in natural iron (25 times more than meat). Consequently, the mix makes tekka a superfood.

Tekka benefits

  • Helps digestion
  • Purifies blood
  • Gives energy
  • Tones up heart
  • Decreases palpitations and arrhythmias produced by heart dilatation
  • Tones up circulatory system
  • Reduces rheumatisms and joints inflammations
  • Helps control cholesterol level
  • Fortifies uterus
  • Treats asthma and diarrheas
  • Alleviates headaches and migraines

With all these benefits, tekka is especially recommended for people who suffer heart, neuralgia and anemia problems. Despite of being very good for health, you have to be careful not having an overdose since it can overload liver and produce discomfort.

How can you consume tekka?

You can eat tekka alone but its strong flavor can discourage many of us. The usual way to consume it is sprinkling a half teaspoon of the condiment on cereals, vegetables, rice or salads. In addition to giving flavor to the dish, you could enjoy all its properties.

Japan gives us an incredible number of superfoods to include in our daily diet, as miso, wasabi, Umeboshi paste… and now tekka. If you want to enjoy all its benefits, you can buy them in our online shop.
