We invite you to prepare this healthy and comforting drink at home that strengthens the immune system and improves digestion.

Pumpkin is a very versatile food that can be incorporated into all kinds of recipes, both savoury and sweet, including desserts. However, on this occasion, we are going one step further, using it to prepare a healthy and comforting drink, ideal for warming the body in the middle of winter. Its sweet and fruity nuances give a delicious and very characteristic flavour to this pumpkin latte. Pumpkin is a source of protein, vitamin C and carotenoids, such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which the body converts into vitamin A. It is also rich in fibre and has hardly any calories or fat, so it is very digestive and can—in fact, it should—be included in diets aimed at weight loss. It is also high in antioxidants, which help to block the action of free radicals, thus preventing cellular ageing, and strengthen the immune and cardiovascular systems. In terms of plant-based milks, they are a healthier option and are not associated with the health problems linked to those of animal origin. In particular, coconut milk is highly nutritious, rich in fibre and contains essential minerals such as iron, selenium, magnesium and phosphorus, which strengthen the immune system. Orzo coffee is obtained from a type of barley, is very aromatic and, as it does not contain caffeine, is a healthy alternative to traditional coffee. It helps control blood glucose, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and helps regulate intestinal transit. Finally, ground cinnamon and nutmeg, which are used as toppings, add minerals, trace elements and vitamins A, C and B complex to the recipe, and help to improve mood, reduce inflammatory processes, strengthen bone health and protect the cardiovascular system.

Ingredients

1/3 cup warm pumpkin puree

1/3 cup hot plant-based milk (preferably coconut)

1/3 cup hot orzo coffee

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Preparation
  1. Gently mix the pumpkin puree with the orzo coffee.
  2. Froth the plant-based milk and add it.
  3. Sprinkle with desired toppings.
