Tea is an infused beverage that comes from the tea plant (Camellia sinensis).

It has been popular for ages. It first became popular thousands of years ago, especially in Eastern cultures.

Origin of the beverage

According to Chinese legend, the discovery of this marvelous infusion was a mere coincidence.

The Chinese Emperor Shennong, when he was in power, ordered all water to be boiled before it was consumed in order to eliminate toxins. One day some leaves of the tea tree happened to fall in a bowl of boiling water.

The aroma caught his attention, and then the flavor did the same. It then became popular throughout the Orient, and went on to conquer the world.

Components of tea

Tea is very beneficial for our bodies. It contains many nutritional substances that are very good for our health.

These include mineral salts like sodium, potassium, and nickel. There are also smaller amount of others like phosphorous and calcium.

But the most highly valued components with the best properties are without a doubt xantic bases. The main one is caffeine, but there are also traces of theophylline and theobromine. These boost our brain activity and improve our physical performance, giving us an extra shot of energy for our daily activities.

We should also mention the presence of vitamins A, B, C, E, and P in smaller quantities.

Its flavor is also very special and different from others, with a delicate touch on the palate and a singular aroma.
