SHA Residences Mexico: the healthiest home in the world

In 2008, SHA inaugurated its first health and wellness clinic right near the bay of Altea, reinventing the concept of wellness as we knew it. 13 years later, and thanks to its unique approach integrating the latest advances in Western medicine, healthy and energetic eating, highly effective natural therapies, physical exercise and the search for inner balance, SHA has become a global benchmark and has improved the quality of life of its more than 60,000 guests, including royal families, heads of state and a long list of celebrities.

Since opening our doors, we’ve always had the dream of exporting our method to other corners of the world. However, we faced a major challenge; finding a paradise to rival the Sierra Helada Natural Park, which combines the perfect surroundings and climate, access to clinical resources and suitable accessibility, was no easy task. And all while maintaining the very high standards of excellence inherent to the brand. But after many years of research and analysis, and visiting dozens of sites, we’ve finally found the ideal location.

SHA Residences Mexico

Due to its size, exclusivity, and innovation, as well as its range of clinical and wellness services, SHA Mexico will become a health and wellness benchmark on the American continent. The new clinic, which will open its doors in 2022, is located in an idyllic enclave in the state of Quintana Roo, north of the Riviera Maya and opposite Isla Mujeres, just over 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport. Surrounded by seven hectares of native flora and fauna, and with half a kilometre of virgin white sandy beach, it has the most important coral reef in the northern hemisphere.

In addition to 100 suites, SHA Mexico has 31 private residences, all with sea views, which combine the privacy, comfort and exclusivity of a luxury home with permanent access to our team of experts and SHA’s medical services, treatments, health programmes and activities.

Renowned Mexican architectural firm Sordo Madaleno and prestigious interior architect Alejandro Escudero make up the team behind SHA Mexico’s design and construction, while the landscape designer Maat Handasa is in charge of exterior spaces, respecting the prominence of native species. The building will have varying heights, amidst mangroves, cenotes and surrounding gardens to blend in with the environment. True to the principle of sustainability, its environmental impact will be minimised by using renewable energy and organic and natural materials, such as white marble, Mexican ceramics, regional craftsmanship, local wood, wicker and local fabrics.

There are three different categories, ranging from 240 m2 to 800 m2, with two-, three- and four-bedroom options. All include private access for owners, an integrated outdoor and indoor kitchen, a spacious garden terrace, glass infinity pool, access to catering service with private chefs, a laundry area and wine cellar. They also incorporate state-of-the-art air and water purification systems, as well as home automation systems based on circadian rhythms.

And although SHA remains an adult-only clinic, the range of treatments available in the residences allows children to experience the SHA method from a young age and to acquire healthy habits that will stay with them for life. The residences are therefore ideal for groups of friends, families and guests wishing to stay for longer periods. And this is only from the inside, as the outside is an idyllic natural enclave, characterised by its fresh, clean air, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, an average annual temperature of 26.6ºC and a water temperature of between 26 and 28ºC. In short, a paradise of turquoise waters in which to enjoy life to the fullest.
